Since 1999, Viegand Maagøe has been developing and updating Go’ Energi’s Purchasing Guidelines which make it easy for organizations and companies to choose energy efficient products by setting requirements on energy efficiency. The guidelines are sent to 2,500 staff responsible for purchasing every year.
Client: Go’ Energi (Danish Energy Saving Trust)
Go’ Energi (Danish Energy Saving Trust) wants to create guidelines that should make it easier for organizations and companies to choose energy efficient products and sets requirements for energy efficiency in relation to purchasing and tendering. In this way the energy cost of products will be as low as possible.
How we carried out the task
We have been developing and updating Go’ Energi’s Purchasing Guidelines on an annual basis since 1999.
The Guidelines contain:
- good advice on how to use the Guidelines in decision making processes and for organising the procurement of products;
- energy requirements for a wide range of products such as IT equipment, white goods, electric motors, circulator pumps and lighting. The requirements are set so that only the 25 % most energy efficient products on the Danish market can meet them; and
- good advice on operational use and procurement.
The Guidelines are targeted at senior managers, staff responsible for energy, purchasing managers, buyers and anyone involved in procurement.
The Purchasing Guidelines are sent annually to 2,500 staff responsible for purchasing. The Guidelines are also publicized online, along with more detailed explanations of the purchasing requirements. The public sector in Denmark must use the requirements and many companies have also adopted them. In addition, both the National Procurement under the Agency for the Modernisation of Public Administration and National Procurement Ltd. – Denmark (SKI) include the requirements in their tender documents.
